Sania moves up to 36th spot
India’s tennis sensation Sania Mirza has moved up two rungs to be placed 36th in the latest WTA rankings.
Last week, she had dropped six places from 32 to 38.
The improvement in her ranking follows her doubles win at the Bangalore Open.
The 19-year-old Hyderabadi is still ranked ahead of American Serena Williams, who is languishing at the 44th place.
The world’s top 10 tennis players are unchanged with Kim Clijsters in top spot.
Swiss Miss Martina Hingis has dropped two places to finish the week in the 50th place.
Sania is scheduled to meet Hingis in the first round of the Dubai Open, which starts on Tuesday.
